The campaign to get local radio and Television stations to air more Ghanaian contents especially with music has hit the rock.

Many Ghanaian artistes have asked why countries like Nigeria, South Africa, others have been successful in implementing the ninety per cent local content [90%] and ten per cent [10%] foreign content but in Ghana is a different story.

Ghanaian hip-hop/ afrobeat artiste, Desmond Kwesi Blackmoore, known better as D Black believes that implementing the 90% local songs on TVs and radio can only be achieved if the artistes own the media company themselves.

In a post monitored by Kasapafmonline.com, the Black Avenue Muzik boss disclosed that he will be establishing a media company that will only promote Ghanaian music.

“Gonna invest in a Radio & TV Station dedicated to Hip-hop, Afrobeats, Dancehall & urban music from Ghana only !!90% our music !!!” D Black posted

Currently, in Ghana, there is a regulation that 70 per cent of Ghanaian songs should be played on air. But Ghanaians can all concur that foreign songs get more rotations on Ghanaian airwaves.
