A Consultant and Director of Public Health, Ghana Health Service, Dr. Badu Sarkodie has said, lockdown is not the remedy to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
There were expectations among a section of the general public that President Akufo-Addo would have announced a lockdown during his last update on Sunday following the rise of the deadly coronavirus in the country.
Speaking on Agoo FM Monday, Dr. Badu Sarkodie said the implication of a lockdown affects the ordinary citizens the reason why government employed a method that will ease the challenges which include a ban on social gathering and restrictions.
He, therefore, used the opportunity to advise the General public to adhere to the protocols in order to avoid partial lockdown.
Stadium and European Football
On sporting activities, Dr Badu Sakodie mentioned that, sports fans must adhere to the protocols at the sports stadium and also whenever they are watching Europeans and other foreign sports event on the television.
“Sports fans gathering at one particular area watching European football is also a major cause of the spread so we’ll urge them to observe social distancing and put on their nose masks. Fans who also troop to the stadium must comply with the directives to help combat the virus.” He stated.
