The Vice-Chancellor of the Ho Technical University, Professor Ben Honyenuga, says the University has collaborated with the Design and Technology Institute to equip its students with technical and entrepreneurial skills to prepare them for the job market.
The partnership with DTI would offer training of artisans in precision quality and precision fabrication to a target of 5000 beneficiaries in the fabrication and welding industry.
The project would be implemented by two other technical universities in addition to HTU over a three-year period.
In an address at the University’s 21st graduation ceremony Prof. Honyenuga said, “partnerships with some institutions were crucial in the delivery of comprehensive knowledge and essential skills sets to its staff and students”.
According to him, the University would continue to partner with relevant institutions both locally and internationally to enhance teaching and learning, research, and to also promote the exchange of students.
Currently, the university also has partnerships with GIZ in the area of renewable energy dubbed “Green People’s Energy Project” with a prime focus on capacity development in Solar Powered Irrigation System (SPIS) with an overall objective to develop the capacity of HTU to roll out Competency-Based Training on SPIS for installers/technicians from solar energy companies among others.
Other partnerships include an MOU with Japan Motors Trading Company Limited that makes the university an authorized agent of Japan Motors to service Nissan vehicles at the University’s automobile workshop, offer support, and provide practical hands-on training opportunities to staff and students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the university.
