Some residents inhabiting the Barekese Zongo community in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District have bitterly decried the increasing cases of criminality in the area.

According to residents, the phenomenon is causing fear and panic among them.

The Chairman of the council of Zongo Chiefs at Barekese, Issaka Amadu Ramadan Il explained that there are numerous incidents of armed robbery in the area.

Residents are continuously robbed of their properties including cars, motorbikes, tricycles popularly known as Aboboyaa, mobile phones among other things, he added.

Mr. Ramadan further stressed that residents are also confronted with theft cases and their domestic animals like goats, sheep and others continue to disappear.

The Chief, therefore, sent a stern warning to the people perpetrating such acts to desist immediately or else stringent steps will be put in place to deal with them when arrested.

Speaking to the press, some aggrieved residents also indicated that they don’t want to take the law into their own hands to Lynch any unscrupulous person therefore the security agencies should up their game to foil the insecurity in the area.

The community folks also bemoaned about rising cases of diseases owing to poor Sanitation and thereby stifling development in the area.

They, therefore, appealed to the Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive to urgently come to their aid and tackle both the incidents of insecurity and poor sanitation in the community to ensure growth and development.
