The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) says Living Bitters Capsules, a herbal medicinal product from Capital 02 Limited has not been adulterated and is safe for consumption.
Reports were rife that the product has been adulterated with some non-edible and potentially harmful substances. This comes after a video emerged on social media purporting that the Living Bitters Capsules, is unwholesome.
Following this, the FDA’s Market Surveillance Team carried out an investigation to ascertain the veracity of the claims in the said video.
A Press Statement issued by the FDA, dated March 23, 2021 said the “Results from the laboratory established that each capsule contains varied compositions of Aloe capensis, Hydrastis canadensis among others as per the label.”
It also said further differential analysis ruled out the presence of coal tar or other harmful products.
However, the Authority advised consumers of FDA regulated products to always look out for proper product labelling which must include product batch numbers, manufacturing and/or expiry dates.
