A total of 340 suspected criminals have been arrested in Kasoa in the Central Region suspected to be engaging in cybercrimes activities.

The majority of the suspects arrested in the swoop were Nigerians, including five females.

According to the police, the operation dubbed “operation storm Kasoa” forms part of efforts to clamp down on criminals in areas such as Budumburam, Ofaakor, Adade, Akweley and CP.

Addressing the press, DCOP Habiba Twumasi Sarpong, said a total of 245 laptops, 142 assorted mobile phones, and 6 Nigerian passports were retrieved.

She said, nine out of the suspects were in possession of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp, adding that those found culpable after the screening will be prosecuted.

DCOP urged the public to inform the police about suspicious characters.
