National Security Operative, Hopeson Adorye says Citi FM’s Journalist Caleb Kudah must be grateful to National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah for saving him from being made to be ‘tortured’ by mosquitos.
Caleb Kudah was picked up by National Security operatives on Tuesday for filming the premises of the National Security Ministry, which is a restricted security zone.
Seven heavily built armed officers later stormed the station and also arrested another Broadcast Journalist Zoe Abu-Baidoo, claiming she had received files from Caleb Kudah.
Both were subsequently released after the videos were deleted by the security operatives.
The brazen nature of the storming of the radio station has been widely condemned by a large section of the public who argue that a simple invitation of the journalist was the way to go.
But commenting on the issue in an interview on Okay FM Wednesday monitored by Kasapafmonline.com, Hopeson Adorye who was the former Deputy National Security Coordinator in-charge of Airports justified the arrest and subsequent rambo-style storming of the radio station.
“…what was he going to use the picture for, what was his motive? he didn’t have an appointment there but he said he had, he lied to a public officer. The interest was to delete the picture and nothing more that is why they were not manhandled. In an actual sense they should have been detained overnight but they were released. If you are a journalist don’t do anything that will compromise the country’s security. If you go to America, no pressman will go to the Pentagon to expose certain things there, nobody will do that because the security of America is paramount.”
Adoye added: “They should be grateful to Honourable Kan Dapaah [Minister for National Security], as soon as the matter was brought to his attention he said once the video has been deleted they should be released. They would have been made to sleep in a mosquito-filled room to teach them a lesson.”
