The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso Constituency Davis Opoku Ansah, known as OPK has surprised two retired public servants who served as Members of Parliament for Mpraeso, on Father’s day.
The young legislator presented plaques and other undisclosed gifts to honour the two former leaders for their immense contribution to the area’s development.
On his Facebook wall: Davis Opoku Ansah stated that “As part of activities celebrating fathers, I visited two retired public servants who served as Members of Parliament for the Mpraeso Constituency.
“First was Mr Gilman Kwaku Appiah, an educationist who was the first MP in the 4th republic for Mpraeso Constituency. The accomplished man who hails from Bepong, at a point was made the Assembly Member for Obo, became a presiding member, and represented the constituency during the consultative assembly. He served as the first MP for my constituency from 1993-1997.”
He added: “I later visited Dr. Francis Osafo-Mensah, a medical doctor who served as MP from 1997-2009. He was also a former regional minister for Eastern Region. I presented a plaque and gifts from my office and on behalf of the constituency to recognise their invaluable service.
“We must appreciate and recognize persons who dedicated themselves to the service of others. They expressed appreciation for the gesture and gave me advice in the discharge of my duties as the legislature for the good people of Kwahu South.”
Speaking on Agoo FM Sunday, the MP expressed his profound gratitude to fathers in his Constituency who support the youth in different dimensions.
