The Attorney General and Minister of Justice Godfred Yeboah Dame has charged the criminal investigations department of the Ghana Police Service to expedite investigations of some members of the NPP affiliated vigilante group, the Delta force who stormed a Kumasi high court to free their colleagues.

Their colleagues were standing trial for assaulting the regional security coordinator then, when they invaded the court and whisked the suspects away.

The AG then Gloria Akuffo filed a nolle prosequi which led to the freedom of the suspects.

But appearing before the public accounts committee to answer questions on the 2017 Auditor General’s report on MDAs, Godfred Dame stated the freed suspects are not entirely free since the matter is still under investigation by the police CID.

“Mr. Chairman the entering of nolle prosequi itself as he stated he’s right. It does not amount to an acquittal and it was an account of the absence of evidence in the view of the AG at that time. And I’m also aware the CID was to continue the investigations and they’re still continuing investigations and I’ll perhaps have to urge them to speed investigations on the matter,” Godfred Yeboah Dame said.
