The Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council is calling for maximum security protection for its people as they prepare to celebrate the 2021 Homowo festival.

According to the traditional leaders, recent chieftaincy issues in the area and some parts of Accra require that, the national security and the police keep an eagle eye on happenings in the area for peace to reign.

Nii Kojo Danso II, the Chief of Dansoman who addressed a press conference in Accra on behalf of King Makers, Chiefs and Queen Mothers in the area, said there are factions in the area who are bent on fomenting troubles during this Homowo celebration, hence their request for security protection.

“We’ll want to have our Homowo in peace because there are factions within us who are trying to create trouble and have gathered miscreants who on the least order can terminate your life easily like that. So I want the appropriate agencies, Police, National security to put their eyes on what is going on in the various chieftaincy settings, especially Nglesgie Alata. We are imploring them all to offer us any assistance and protection,” Nii Kojo Danso II said.

Meanwhile, he described it as a travesty of justice moves by the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs to outdoor an acting president of the Ngleshie Traditional Council.

According to him, that move by the Regional House of Chiefs is inappropriate saying the traditional area has begun processes for the enstoolment of the rightful Dzasetse for the area.

“Plans are far advanced to outdoor the new Dzasetse in the person of Nii Kojo Ashamanfro III aka Bishop Dr. Nii Ablah Sackey who has gone through all the necessary processes to be validated as such…”
