A broadcast journalist with Power Fm and TV XYZ, Daakyehene Ofosu Agyeman has won the male radio newscaster of the year award at the just ended Ghana Media Personality Awards (GMPA) night.

The reigning RTP Awards Newscaster of the year for Local Language beat 9 strong newscasters to emerge the winner.

The maiden edition of Ghana Media personality awards was held on 21st August 2021 at the Accra Digital Centre.

Daakyehene who is also the News Editor of Power FM competed with news anchors like Obiri Yeboah of Adom FM; Kaakyire Badu of Accra FM; Okatakyie Frimpong of Koforidua-based Delight FM and Peace FM News Editor Nana Yaw Kese.

The rest are Kasapa FM’s Bonohene Baffour Awuah, Kwadwo Amoako of Good Life FM, Rainbow FM’s Kwabena Agyapong; Kwame Amoh of Peace FM and Citi FM news anchor Umaru Sanda Amadu.

Daakyehene, a graduate from the University of Ghana previously worked with Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) as an Akan newscaster, worked at Nkunim Fm as a morning show host before joining Rainbow Radio.

He later moved to Kasapa FM as a newscaster and a court reporter.

The Ghana Media Personality Awards (GMPA) recognizes, celebrates, and rewards the contribution of personalities with exemplary vision in shaping the future of Ghana’s media industry.

GMPA is exclusively designed to bring together all personalities in the Radio, Print, School, and Television industry in Ghana. This annual event is to also drive the media to strive towards excellence in their total output.
