Veteran Sports Journalist, Kwabena Yeboah has discounted the potency of the practice of voodoo popularly known as “Juju” that continues to dominate African football.

He said it’s an absurdity and unfortunate that clubs continue to rely on Juju in Ghana.

“It’s only a dead brain that will think Juju plays football. It’s absolute rubbish, Kwabena Yeboah said in an interview with host Nana Aba Anamoah on Starr Chat.

In African football, teams normally take along with them ritualists, granting them official portfolios such as ‘special advisors’ and even making allocations for their fees in the budget just to win games.

But the veteran commentator argued that the fact that African countries typically struggle to shine in World Cup tournaments gives credence to the fact that Juju plays no role in football, but effort and hard work often trump “black magic”.

“How many African teams have won the World cup”? he queried, adding “Juju plays no role in football. It’s backward and must be condemned.”
