“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children…”

–  Malachi 4:5

Mr. President,

I give thanks to God, for how far He has brought you and your government. As citizens of our Nation, it is very important that all of us play our roles in supporting the growth of our Democracy, in view of this, I want to draw your attention to these two crucial events that may take place, if we don’t take precautions.

The first one is about the recent cases of deaths and killing going on in the country. Mr. President, if there is any time that your government needs to sit up, it must be now. Let’s ask ourselves, when did teenagers involve themselves in money rituals in Ghana? Today, they kill a pregnant woman, the next day, a taxi driver, the next day, another. What is happening, Mr. President?

Please go back to the drawing board and fix this problem, because parents are worried and scared. And if we could possibly re-design our National Flag, by removing the ‘Red’ color, which signifies ‘bloodshed’, let us do that before history repeats itself.

My next topic is about an impending drought. Ghana experienced severe droughts in 1968-1973, 1982-1984, 1990-1992 with the droughts of 1983/1984 being the most significant. Currently, in the North and other parts of Ghana, citizens struggle to find potable water, and there are many villages where animals are sharing the same source of drinking water with human beings, and this is just unacceptable.

More also, the Agric Ministry recently published in the Daily Graphic, how a prolonged drought, brought about low food production in 4 regions. As we speak, there is a severe drought in Morocco, Iran, Northern and Southern parts of China, Sudan and Ethiopia, just to mention a few which attests to the fact that Climate Change is real.

Another drought is coming, Mr. President. Please prepare the Nation ahead of it, now that we have some few drops.

God bless our homeland Ghana; God bless us all. Thank you, Mr. President, and may the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ, be with you.
