Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder of the Godsway International Ministry, has been acquitted and discharged by an Accra High Court in an assault case against a radio panelist at Hot FM.

Presiding judge Justice Iddrisu Abdulai, stated the evidence by the state prosecution was not credible enough to implicate him.

He said prosecution should have brought witnesses who were at the studio at the time the issue happened to give more credible account.

Obinim in his evidence in chief stated that he only went to the station to clarify issues on the allegations of marital infidelity which was being discussed there, but was rather assaulted and pushed out of the station.

He told the court in his evidence that he never sighted any crowbar at the station and did not have any physical contact with Kwame Ntim, the panelist who accused the religious leader of assault.

He also said he compensated the panelists of Hot FM, who were at the studio when the incident broke.

Kingsley Baah and Kofi Akwetey, said to be pastoring in the same church – have also been freed on charges preferred against them – conspiracy to assault, unlawful entry and assault.
