The General Secrretary of the governing National Democratic Congress(NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has pooh-poohed the New Patriotic Party(NPP) for organizing a Press Conference months ago that sought to put across their claims on aliens flooding the electoral database.

He said such a public show was needless for the opposition party, since there was an established system already that could have helped address the challenges with the current roll.

The NPP’s running mate, Dr Mahamudu Dawumia at a press conference to make a case for a new register ahead of the 2016 elections, explained that using a facial biometric recognition technology, a team of investigators from the NPP unraveled  76, 286 potential matches of Togolese voters in Ghana’s voter’s register.

He explained that the investigative team obtained all the voters’ registers across the border countries of Ghana; Togo, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso and used it for their investigations.

But the NDC scribe, speaking at the stakeholders’ forum on the voters’ register Thursday, said the NPP could have used the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) to deal with those concerns rather than wasting time and resources adopting such unnecessary approach concerning the bloated voters register.

General Mosquito in his debate on the voters register,  ‘said any proposal that won’t help maintain the status-quo but will be injurious to the electoral album must not be encouraged’.

He insisted that there can be no register that is 100 percent correct, and hence compiling a new one we’ll still have to go through the same process as has been done in the past.

” The same problems are there, so you need to start from somewhere…lets use the 2012 register as the starting point”

“The current biometric register must be maintained and tradition and conventions of cleaning up the register employed to ensure that the register is credible”.
