The 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League matchday two was graced with some mouth-watering games.

Starting off on Friday at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope as the defending Champions, Hearts of Oak visited WAFA in an attempt to get the first win of this campaign.

The Red Bull Arena has been a difficult ground for the Phobians, with the rainbow club not winning a game there in the last three fixtures.

Both teams had a disappointing start to the 2021/2022 campaign ( Hearts drawing with Legon Cities and WAFA losing to King Faisal) were hoping to have their first victory.

Goals from Kofi Kodzi and Sampson Agyapong were not enough to separate the two sides.

William G. Zaragoza having his first game in charge was upbeat on the team’s success in the season even though he was not enthused that they failed to beat the Phobians.

Meanwhile, his counterpart Samuel Boadu Of Hearts Of Oak once again pleaded with the Hearts fans to be patient with the team.

WAFA is currently 16th on the league log while Hearts currently occupies the 13th position. The Phobians will host Aduana Stars on matchday three while WAFA visit Real Tamale United.

Elsewhere, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was fully charged as Asante Kotoko returned home for the first time in more than a year with a win over Bechem United after renovation works at the stadium were done.

The Porcupine Warriors sealed their homecoming with two goals over their visitors. Late goals from Abdul Ganiyu and Samuel Boateng saw the host climb to the top of the league log. Man of the match Samuel Osei Kuffour showed his disappointment in the results as his team suffered a defeat.

Bibiani Gold Stars will host Asante Kotoko at Dun’s park on Friday in the next round of the Ghana Premier League.

Also on Sunday night football lovers at the Accra Sports Stadium enjoyed a four goals thriller game between Accra Great Olympics and the newly-promoted side Accra Lions.

A Hattrick from Maxwell Abbey Quaye was enough to give the host Accra Great Olympics the win in the Accra derby.

Olympics will visit Legon Cities while Dreams FC will host Accra Lions in matchday three of this campaign.
