Promasidor Ghana Limited, a leading manufacturer of food products in Ghana has donated about GHS120,000.00 worth of products to aid in keeping the livelihood of the affected people of the recent tidal waves in some parts of Southern Volta.

The items donated include; Cowbell milk, Miksi dairy blend, Onga food seasoning, Yumvita infant cereal, exercise books, plastic bowls among other things.

The representatives of the company first toured some parts of the affected areas in Salakope-Amutinu before handing over the products to the MCE of Keta Municipality, Hon. Emmanuel Gemegah on behalf of the affected communities.

The MCE received the items with joy and thanked the team for fulfilling their corporate social responsibility and assured them that, the items will get to the affected persons.

He said, “Be rest assured that the items shall get to the deserved persons and just like Oliver Twist, we ask for more because in the case of Keta, whiles the sea is receding, the Lagoon rises.’’

Speaking to the media at the ceremony, the PRO and Events Manager for Promasidor Ghana Limited, Mr. Gideon Kodo said, the business has grown on the back of the Ghanaian community.

He said, “It’s important to support, this is not to fix the problem but giving back to the society. We are donating these items worth GHS 120,000.00 to the three Districts to help keep the livelihoods of the people who have lost their jobs and other valuables.”

He, stated further, that they will be monitoring the events to see if there is any other support they will give in the future while urging stakeholders to ensure that a lasting solution is found o the problem.

Between March to November 2021, communities such as Salakope-Amutinu, Adina, Agavedzi, Dzita,

Abutiakɔƒe, Kedzikɔƒe, Agbledomi, and Fuveme along the Keta Lagoon have suffered seven major tidal wave incidents leaving over 4000 people displaced.
