According to former KNUST head of Political Science and History Department, who supervised a research sponsored by a group in the NPP, many people across the country including Ashanti region belittle the impact of the Vice President Dr. Mahammadu Bawumia in the management of the country particularly the economy.
He said, the governing party’s stronghold doesn’t trust the vice president is political matured to lead the New Patriotic party into 2024 crucial elections which the party is targeting to “break the 8’’ years cycle of rule by the two major political parties.
Dr. Amakye Boateng disclosed on Pure FM morning drive the region is poised for Alan Kyeremanteng instead of the Vice president.
“The NPP has no choice than to elect Alan Kwadow Kyeremanteng to lead them into the election 2024. The party has its own tradition in electing their flagbearers which President Nana Akufo Addo is a product. The NPP has no issue because they already have Alan Kyeremanteng’’ he said.
He stressed, ”2024, from our research, if NPP does not bring Alan Kyeremanteng as their flagbearer in 2024, Ashanti region will not support NPP to win Power. It is about ethnicity. It is about who can win power for the party in 2024. In fact, they shouldn’t joke with this, ’’ he warned.
Dr. Amakye Boateng declined to give details of the variables but said, the research was conducted to test the strength and popularity of Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng and Vice President Dr. Bawumia to lead the party going into election 2024.
He stressed, all other presidential hopeful in the party are just adding to the numbers as they have no influence to lead the party.
