The Presiding Member for Birim North District Assembly, George Krobea Asante has described as completely false details of a purported poll on various National Executive portfolios of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) published by the Daily Guide Newspaper.

The aforementioned newspaper has published that Stephen Ayesu Ntim, John Boadu and Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye aka ‘Nana B’, who are gunning for the National Chairman, General Secretary and National Organiser, respectively are expected to win their various positions if the elections were held today.

In the National Chairman race, according to the purported conducted by the Research Bureau at the Office of the Presidency, Mr. Ntim took a commanding lead, polling 60.3%, followed by Stephen Asamoah-Boateng aka Asa B with 18.1%, Prof. Ameyaw Ekumfi at 10.2% with Robert Kutin Jnr, 4.5% and Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah 3.8% in that order, and just 3.1% were undecided.

General Secretary

The incumbent General Secretary, John Boadu, amassed 52.4% to take the first position as Justin Kodua Frimpong followed closely with 31.6%, Frederick Opare-Ansah 11.7%, Charles Cromwell Bissue 1.3% and Musah Superior 0.8%. The undecided stood at 2.2%.

National Organiser

Per the purported findings, Nana B would easily emerge victorious in the National Organiser race with 70.8% and he would be followed by Nii Kwartei Titus Glover 10.1%, Dr. Kwame Afriyie 7.7%, Eric Amoako Twum 5.7%, Archibald Cobbina 2.8% and Bright Essifie Kumi 1.3%. About 1.6% were undecided.

National Treasurer

In the National Treasurer elections, Dr. Charles Dwamena aka Dr. China, is tipped to win by 54.7%, followed by Mary Posch-Oduro with 29.4%, as Collins Nuntwiri Nuamah garnered 14.6%. The undecided were 1.3%.

Women Organiser

Incumbent Kate Abena Gyamfua amassed a whopping 89.8% and could be retained as the National Women Organiser, as her only competitor, Ellen Ama Daaku, secured a paltry 4.8%. About 5.4% of the respondents were undecided though.

Youth Organiser

In the National Youth Organiser contest, Salam Mustapha is expected to win by 50.7%, followed by Michael Osei Boateng aka Pope, 28.8%, Prince Kamal Gumah 11.7%, Abanga Yakubu Fusani 5.4% and Nana Kwadwo Akwaa 1.8%. About 1.6% were undecided.

National Nasara Coordinator

The incumbent National Nasara Coordinator, Abdul Aziz Haruna Futah, comfortably led the polls with 55.9%, Alhaji Ali Suraj 21.6% and Alhaji Muazu Kunata Issahaka 20.4% followed in that order. About 2.1% of the respondents were undecided.

However, Hon. George Krobea Asante in a statement stated that consultations with the leadership of the Research Directorate at the Presidency has uncovered that while the said poll was conducted during the National Delegates Conference held in Kumasi, detailed findings of the survey has not even been concluded and analysed.

“My checks have further revealed that Dr. Isaac Owusu-Mensah, renowned political scientist and Head of Research at the Presidency, is incensed that some individuals will concoct figures to misrepresent the findings of a research that has not even been published. I ask, why would a reputable tabloid like the Daily Guide publish such a false story? Whose interest are they serving? What are the motives for the publication of such a false story? Why are some people in a hurry to share the findings of a yet to be published survey? Is it because the actual survey findings may not suit their interest? I encourage delegates and grassroots of our dear party to reject the false publication and treat it with the contempt it deserves,” it added.

He noted that “since Ghana’s return to multi party democracy in 1992, delegates of the NPP have proven to be independent minded who cannot be swayed or deceived by a false publications as this. Using a newspaper to falsify the findings of a yet to be published survey does not only undermine the authority of the Research Directorate at the presidency who spent several weeks planning the survey but also shows that some aspirants have lost popularity with the party’s grassroots after nearly 8 years as National Executives and are only counting on media endorsements to sway opinion. It needs mentioning that a publication by Ben Epson’s Daily Dispatch predicted President Akufo-Addo’s defeat and John Mahama’s victory five days to the 2016 general elections. In the end, it wasn’t Mr. Epson’s survey that determined the outcome but the votes of ordinary Ghanaians that booted the incompetent Mahama out of office and ushered in President Akufo-Addo’s administration.”

Hon. George Krobea Asante further observed that “the party’s disappointing performance in the 2020 general elections which culminated in the loss of our parliamentary majority status is ample proof that all is not well with our dear party.”

He therefore charged NPP members to “unite to give our party a new direction, a new hope and a new crop of leadership capable of breaking the eight.”
