UNFPA, partners meet at maiden forum in Accra

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Ghana has engaged its implementing partners at the maiden Partners’ Learning Forum (PALEF) in Accra.

The forum opened on Monday, November 2 was themed: “Utilising shared knowledge and practices for advancing the ICPD Agenda in Ghana”.

The partners include metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDAs) as well as civil society organizations (CSOs).

UNFPA Country Representative, Dr Babatunde Ahonsi said the programmes implemented at three levels – national, regional and district will seek to assess strategies and the extent to which the programmes and projects were implemented at the various levels.

Delivering a keynote address, the Director of Research, Statistics and Information Management at the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Dorothy Onny said Ghana met a number of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) following the collaboration with UNFPA.

She thanked UNFPA for partnering Ghana achieve this feat, calling on it to lend its support to the country in meeting the post-2015 goals, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted in September at the 70th UN General Assembly.
