The Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipality of the Central Region, Alhaji Zubairu Kassim has cautioned the Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Professor Anthony Afful Broni to immediately withdraw all his personal bodyguards and land guards from the Vice Chancellor’s residency and the University campus.
The MCE in an interview disclosed that Prof. Afful Broni has recruited bodyguards who dress in Military uniform and has camped them at the Residency to protect him.
According to him, these bodyguards always patrol the campus armed with guns and other weapons which leaves many students, especially the freshers terrified anytime they see them.
He noted that the machomen hide in the bush anytime police personnel storm the Vice Chancellor’s Residency, an action he does not understand.
Alhaji Zubairu Kassim disclosed that plans have been made to provide adequate security for the reinstated Vice-Chancellor Professor Avoke, adding that as the Chairman of the Municipal Security Council, (MUSEC) he’ll ensure that there’s peace in Effutu for law-abiding citizens to go about their duties peacefully.
