The suspended National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko has issued a statement asking members of the NPP National Executive Committee (NEC) to ignore a meeting being called by the party’s acting Chairman, Freddie Blay.

The statement, which was issued on behalf of Afoko and signed by his Spokesperson, Nana Yaw Osei described the purported meeting as ‘illegal.”

“The attention of the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Paul Afoko has been drawn to yet another illegal NEC meeting being called by the First Vice Chairman, Mr. Freddie Blay. Mr. Afoko wishes to state that he has not called any meeting neither has the General Secretary, Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong issued notice inviting members to attend any meeting,” the statement noted.

Freddie Blay was appointed as the acting Chairman after Afoko was suspended, but Mr Afoko claims an interim injunction served on the party stops Freddie Blay from serving as the party’s Chairman.

“Let all members of the National Executive Committee and/or National Council take notice that notice of an interim injuction has been served on the party restraining the party and Mr. Freddie Blay from holding any meetings and also holding himself out as the acting national chairman until the substantive motion is heard and disposed of, “ the statement noted.

The embattled suspended Chairman insists he is still the party’s Chairman and will continue to hold himself as such and effectively discharge his duties
