The 2022 edition of Ghana’s most anticipated awards show, 3Music Awards, took place last Saturday, 26th March, 2022, into the morning of Sunday 27th March, 2022, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre amidst pop and pageantry.
Boomplay, Africa’s largest music streaming platform, continued its support for the growth and development of the Ghanaian music industry by sponsoring the awards scheme for the third consecutive time.
As a partner of the awards scheme, Boomplay adopted three categories this year for support: “African Song of the Year”, “Breakthrough Act of the Year” and the ultimate, “Artiste of the Year”. As a result of this, a novelty public voting platform was created on the Boomplay app for the three categories which contributed to 40% weighting of final votes.
The partnership between the awards scheme and Boomplay follows a similar partnership last year where Boomplay powered the Leaders of the New School performance productions and sponsored the Breakthrough Act of the Year category won by Mr Drew.
Just like Mr Drew, winners of the categories will receive extensive promotion in the Boomplay app and on offline channels like billboards and other marketing and Artist promotion channels.
Speaking to the media, the marketing manager for Boomplay Ghana relayed that, “We are happy to have supported this award scheme by giving our users an easier and transparent way to support their favourite artists to win. Artistes are at the forefront of our business and connecting them to their fans is necessary in building the music ecosystem. We extend congratulations to all winners and for the categories we adopted, we will work with the winners to offer them valuable promotional packages online and offline as a boost to their careers”
Boomplay continues to play a very key role in supporting Artistes promote their content and reach their audience and for music fans, enable them discover music from all over the African continent and outside the continent.
The 2022 edition of the 3Music Awards last Saturday lived up to its expectation after a technical constraint delayed its start. It saw explosive performances from the likes of Black Sherif, Hajia 4Real, Kelvynboy, KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Camidoh and many more.
