Pollster, Ben Ephson has lashed out on the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) for holding on to the view that what could save a dubious electoral process is by introducing a fresh database ahead of the 2016 elections.

He’s questioned why the NPP is consistently calling on the state to procure a new electoral data, when it can simply cooperate with the Electoral Commission (EC) to expunge illegal entries from the register.

In an interaction with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Wednesday,Ephson said ” what will be the guarantee that we can avoid a greater risk of minors being registered again when we open a new register again.”

He insisted that the NPP craze for a new voters register smacks of parochial interest, for which there is very little for the state to benefit from by going their way.

“I find it difficult to understand the NPP. Why don’t you want us to use your own mechanism to clear off the identified numbers from the register. This is simple-if you’re alleging 2 million foreigners  have infiltrated the register, the simple analogy is to take out those numbers to make it clean” the managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch stated.

However, the largest opposition party wants the EC to launch investigations into the specific evidence of flaws in the Voters’ register as contained in the party’s petition to the electoral body.

The party’s communications Director , Nana Akomea, after a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party on Tuesday, November 3 said the commission’s response does not speak directly to the content of the petition.

The elephant family says such a petition that bothers on the integrity of the electoral process should not be trifled with.
