Ghana defender Alexander Djiku’s spectacular effort for Strasbourg against AS Monaco in the Ligue 1 has been voted the Goal of the Month for March.

After receiving a pass from striker Kevin Gameiro, the 27-year-old produced a stunning bicycle kick that sent the ball into the back of the AS Monaco net.

The rest of the game saw AS Monaco put on a fantastic performance in an attempt to get back into the game, but Strasbourg’s tenacity prevented the opponent from scoring.

Djiku’s bicycle kick was his first goal of the season, despite appearing in 28 games. His performance in the game earned him Match of the Match award, as well as a spot on the French Ligue 1 Team of the Week.

He joined Strasbourg from Caen in 2019 and has made 63 appearances for the club since then.

Djiku’ was a member of Ghana’s squad at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, where the Black Stars were eliminated in the group stage.

Following the disappointment in Cameroon, he assisted Ghana to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
