A former deputy Ashanti Regional Minister Joseph Yamin, has filed an injunction application to block the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), from holding its regional delegates conference at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC).
Regional Coordinating Councils serve as both the administrative offices of Regional Ministers and also as their official residences as well.
The Conference had earlier been billed for Friday, May 27, 2022, at the premises of the Regional Coordinating Council in Kumasi a move some aspirants in the NPP polls have protested against it.
It was against this backdrop that Mr. Yamin in an exparte injunction application, went to court asking the court to restrain the party from holding the conference at that venue.
The court thus adjourned the hearing of the case to next week Friday.
However, reports suggest the election committee has changed the NPP’s venue of the regional conference from the Regional Coordinating Council to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Secretary to the Ashanti NPP’s regional Elections Committee, Henry Kwabena Kokofu, indicated that the date for the conference has also been changed from Friday 27th to Saturday 28th May 2022.
Speaking to Kasapa News, he explained there are issues with the album they are compiling for the election which ought to be resolved before the elections can be held hence the postponement.
