Government is to fully pay the outstanding allowances detailing leave, fuel, overtime, and other allowance due the members of the Judicial Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) by close of Friday, November 6.
Mr Alex Nartey, the National President of JUSAG, speaking at a press conference in Accra said the leadership of JUSAG had a meeting with government through the Minister of Employment and Labour Relation on the issue.
He said the Minister has informed the leadership that government has heard their call and actions were been put in place for the arrears to be paid to the Judicial Service for onward payment to members by Friday.
Mr Nartey noted that the JUSAG leadership has therefore directed the extension of the wearing of the red arm bands up to Friday.
“If by close of Friday November 6, Government does not honor its promise of payment, we will embark on an indefinite strike on November 9,” he added.
He, however, called on all members to be at post as usual to await the commitment of government on the payment.
He said the Judicial Council has approved their consolidated salaries and the approval when imputed into the 2016 budget would avert the issues of strikes in the history of the Judicial Service.
He said the current salaries of the Judicial Service staff were nothing to write home about.
JUSAG on October 31 announced their intentions for industrial action starting Monday November 2.
According to their timetable, Monday November 2nd to Wednesday 4th; all members were to wear red arm bands at work nationwide.
This, they said, would be followed by partial withdrawal of service where all staff would have been expected to report to work at 12noon.
