Hundreds of commuters and drivers who ply the Takoradi–Apowa road have for two days continuous been stranded owing to the torrential rainfall which flooded that stretch.

The Takoradi –Apowa road is a major road network which serves as the only access road linking some nine districts in the western region of Ghana.

Tuesday’s downpour and the subsequent rains on Wednesday morning flooded the road halting the movement of vehicles, and commuters while it left most vehicles submerged.

Stranded commuters were seen walking to their various destinations while wading through the flood waters.

There is angst over how duty bearers keep looking on helplessly while this tragedy keeps happening during every rainy season.
