Suspended National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Paul Afoko, has expressed gratitude to his teeming supporters who thronged the party’s Headquarters yesterday to express their displeasure over his suspension.

Over three hundred of the embattled suspended chairman’s supporters drawn from across the country besieged the NPP office to demand the immediate reinstatement of Mr Afoko and threatened that they’ll boycott the 2016 election if Mr Afoko’s suspension is not reversed.

In a Press statement signed by his Spokesperson, Nana Yaw Osei, the beleaguered chairman commended the protesters for engaging in peaceful and lawful activities in support of the party’s constitution.

It statement said: “I have always maintained that whatever is happening in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against the National Chairman, Mr. Paul A. Afoko, is not against his person but rather an attack on our party’s constitution.”

It added that “I commend those who poured onto the streets of Accra in defence of our party constitution for their bravery, love for unity and the rule of law.

I also commend the organisers for putting together an incident-free public events like what we saw on TV and heard on radio.”

The statement ended sayng “If we can exhibit such bravado in love and unity, there is no way the New Patriotic Party (NPP) cannot win next year’s general elections.”
