IGP, Dr. Akuffo-Dampare

Research conducted by Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) and other stakeholders released last week placed the Ghana Police Service on top of the category of the most corrupt institution in the country.

The research titled; Corruption in Ghana, Peoples Experiences and View,’ had 24 institutions being sampled.

Per the survey, more than 17.4 million bribes were paid in 2021 with police officers leading the list of officials who take bribes at 53.2%.

Other officers who made the unenviable list are prosecutors, judges or magistrates, Immigration Officers, and Lands Commission, officers.

However, the Inspector-General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare is contesting the findings regarding the Police Service as well as the methodology used.
