The Circuit Court in Accra has convicted Emmanuel Laryea, a 25-year-old fisherman who was found in possession of some stolen goats after he pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful possession.
The convict, was said to have been in possession of goats stolen by some four others who had embarked on goats stealing expedition at Teshie.
Laryea who was convicted on his own guilty plea by the court presided over by His Honour Samuel Bright Acquah, will face sentencing on October 18.
Samuel Tetteh, another of the accused person pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and stealing and has been remanded.
One other whose name was given as Obama is said to be on the run while another of the accused by name Kofi is said to have died.
Inspector Dzigbordi Nego, the Prosecutor per the brief facts of the case told the court that, the complainant Martin Akugre is a Butcher and resides at Teshie Tebibiano.
The Prosecutor said, Samuel Tetteh is a 25 year-old residing at Teshie Maame and that September 11, 2022 at about 11pm, the accused person together with three others but one deceased and two at large on board a Nissan Urvan with registration number no GW5248-21 embarked on goat stealing expedition within Teshie Township.
The Prosecutor said, they later went to Teshie Tebibiano and stole two goats, a female and male of the complainant, and that they extended their operation to Teshie Krobo-one, a suburb of Teshie to further steal goats.
Inspector Nego said, after a successful operation, the (alleged) thieves were returning and the road was blocked by a mob who attacked.
The Prosecutor said, in the process, four of the thieves including the accused managed to escape but luck eluded one of them by name Kofi who was lynched at the spot.
Inspector Nego, said, the mob also caused damaged to the vehicle with two female dead stolen goats inside the vehicle.
“One 14/09/2022, investigation led to the arrest of accused Samuel Tetteh from his hideout. During further investigation he admitted the offence and mentioned the names of his accomplices as Kofi now deceased, Obama, and another.”
