Following a heavy downpour a few days, Agoo FM news reports that some farmers in Kwahu have lost millions of Ghana cedis as most of their crops have been destroyed.
A visit to Kotoso, a farming community in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region saw several farms which include cabbage, onion, maize, and other crops being shattered by the rainfall.
Speaking to some residents and the affected farmers in the area, they cried over the situation since most of them had their capital from loans they secured, and appealed to the government to come to their aid.
Michael Baah, the 2021 Eastern Regional Best crop farmer of the year, lost about GHC700,000 in the process.
Speaking to Agoo News Ebenezer Kojo Nyavor, the farmer revealed his onion farm which has employed many youth has been destroyed.
“I took a loan of about GHC200,000 to invest in this project so I was expecting ghc700, 000, we will plead with the government to assist us since it’s a difficult moment,’’ he stated.
