A twelve years old boy Kweku Essuman who has been paralyzed for nine years has been caged in a room after he suffered from a strange disease at Breman Kontenase in the Asikuma Odobeng Brakwa District of the Central Region.

The boy at age 3, was said to have been playing when he was suddenly heard crying uncontrollably, and upon a check on him, blood was found to be oozing from his mouth, ears, and nose.

He was then taken to the hospital for two months but the family could not exhaust the medical process hence he returned home.

The boy now moves in literal undulations form like a snake.

He has been caged in the room to prevent others from seeing him because the members of the family claim they feel shy to bring him out.

Speaking in an interview with the eighty-year-old grandmother of the boy, she said the boy’s mother has gone mad and the caretaker has also died out of frustration leaving her and the boy alone. The father has also abandoned him since he became paralyzed.

She believes that regular medical treatment will heal her grandson but she doesn’t have money to help him out.

She appealed to the general public, the Ministry of Children, Gender and Social Protection, and the Member of Parliament for the Asikuma Odobeng Brakwa Constituency Hon. Alhaji Kobina Ghansah, the District Chief Executive for Asikuma Odobeng Brakwa, Philanthropists and private individuals to support her grandson to get healed.

She said she has been drained financially from the diaper she buys for the boy.

Meanwhile, Mr. Richmond Assan, a Child Developer in the Breman Kontenase Community who has been contributing to feeding the boy and the old lady also added his voice to appeal for support for the boy as life has become very difficult for the boy and grandmother.

A Teacher in the Community, Charles Oscar Ayensu noted that his interaction with the victim indicates he is very brilliant, hence needs support to get rid of his challenges so he becomes a great personality in the future.
