General Secretary aspirant of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has said there was a good reason why he repeatedly chanted ex-President Mahama’s name whenever he mounted campaign platforms.
The former campaign coordinator while on campaign platforms could chant the name of John Mahama repeatedly more than 40 times as he introduced the Flagbearer to speak to his teeming supporters.
Speaking on the “Ghana Kasa” show on Kasapa FM/Agoo TV revealed that there was a scientific basis for his action.
“…My constant chants of chooboi, and Mahama, do you know there was a science behind that? Before President Mills died, we conducted research and found out how popular his name and that of Candidate Akufo-Addo were. When he died, and Mahama took over, we conducted another research and found out that the popularity of Mahama and Akufo-Addo was almost at par even though Mahama was slightly ahead. This was so because Akufo-Addo had already been a Presidential candidate twice.
He added: “So among other things, we needed to find a way to make President Mahama’s name popular and dominant in the minds of Ghanaians. So whenever I mounted the campaign platform, I could chant the name Mahama more than 40 times so that the name resonated with the people and it worked.”
