Former National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Yaw Boateng Gyan says considering Ghana’s struggling economy, the country needs former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor as President to bring the economy back on track.
According to him, the country needs Economist who has also been successful in establishing businesses to put the economy on the right path to recovery.
Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former Finance Minister and Governor of the Bank of Ghana on Thursday, November 3, 2022 officially declared his intention to contest the NDC flagbearership ahead of the 2024 election.
Speaking on Ghana Kasa show on Kasapa FM/Agoo TV, said he believes Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has the competence to based on his achievements in both public and private lives to lead the country and move it to an enviable position.
“What is very important to Ghanaians now is how to revive our ailing economy and make the cost of living affordable to the ordinary Ghanaian. We can’t talk about persons who can build and competently manage an economy without mentioning the name of Dr. Duffuor. We all know the successes he attained in office as Finance Minister growing the economy to an appreciable level and reducing inflation to a single digit for a long period of time.
He added: “He’s a new product though, but what he did while in office is evidently clear for all to see. If we are talking about the provision of jobs, we can’t leave out Dr. Duffuor who has established many businesses and employed many Ghanaians. He’s proven his competence in both private and public life and such a person is who Ghana needs at this crucial period where our economy is on its knees.”
