The Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Education Directorate, led by the Director, Mrs. Sabina Aba Wilson has organized a reading and spelling competition for basic schools in the District.
The competition was held among seven circuits in the district which are: Amia Ba, Sonkwa, Denkyira, Bisease, Ajumako, Enyanmaim, and Abaasa.
The contestants were Basic two pupils and Junior High School students and the theme for the competition was: Reading; a Bedrock for Academic Excellence.
At the end of the Primary level competition, Amia Ba Circuit won with 48.5 points followed by Sonkwa Circuit with 44.5 points with the Ajumako Circuit placing in the last position with 29.5 Points.
At the Junior High Level, Enyan Abaasa Circuit had the first position while Ajumako Circuit had the second position and Enyanmain Circuit was the last.
The District Education Director for Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Mrs. Sabina Aba Wilson congratulated the best Circuit for being first in the competition.
She said her aim is to see all the pupils in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District being able to read and spell well and also write good english.
Mrs. Sabina Aba Wilson pledged to organize more such competitions every year to examine how teaching and learning go on in the various Schools in the District.
She encouraged the pupils and students to read a book before going to bed always.
The Education Director urged parents to make sure their wards learn at home as teachers will do their best at school to ensure the pupils learn.
She also called on people who are well-to-do from the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District, Philanthropists, chiefs, and anybody who has education at heart to support the Education Directorate to meet their target by organizing reading and spelling competitions for the Schools in the District.
She thanked all those who supported her to make the competition successful.
The District Education Directorate whished all the Circuit the best of luck as they proceed to the Regional Level.
Awards and plaques were given to the best-performed contestant, Circuits and Teachers for their good work.
The District Chief Executive for Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Hon. Ransford Emmanuel Kwesi Nyarko in an interview said the District Assembly is impressed with the good work of the Education Directorate in organizing Reading and spelling competitions for the Schools in the area.
He pledged the District Assembly’s continued support for such good initiatives.
