The founder of the defunct Capital Bank William Ato Essien has been convicted by the High Court after pleading guilty to charges of conspiracy, money laundering, and stealing.

This was after the court accepted his latest agreement entered with the state to refund monies to the state under Section 35 of the courts act.

The office of the Attorney General through the deputy AG Alfred Tuah Yeboah and Thaddeus Sory for Ato Essien addressed the court on section 35 and how the parties came to the conclusion to refund 90 million to the state.
