Management of Coastal FM, a local radio station in Mankessim in the Mfanteman Municipality of the Central has fed over one thousand widows, widowers, and orphans from almost all the Districts in the Central Region.

Some of the District that benefitted were the Mfanteman Municipality, Ajumako Enyan Essiam District, Ekumfi District, Abura Asebu Kwamankese District, Assin South, Asikuma Odobeng Brakwa, Effutu District, Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, Agona West, Gomoa West among others.

The initiative according to the Programs Manager of the Station Mr. Moses Kwamena Ato Brown, forms part of the station’s aim of putting smiles on the face of Widows, Widowers, Orphans, and the needy in their catchment area and has been done for over four years since the station established.

According to him, the Chief Executive Officer of the station Hon. Kuntu Blankson deemed it important and necessary to support the needy persons in the Central Region most especially during Christmas and Easter Seasons.

He noted that the Radio Station endeared itself to the public in its catchment area following the donation which was hugely supported through contributions from its listeners.

Some of the items shared were bags of rice, drinks, clothes, soap, shoes, bread, bags of water, cartons of tin milk, sardines, and sugar among others.

General Manager appealed to Non-governmental organizations, philanthropists, and Private Individuals to support the station any time they embark on such initiatives.

Meanwhile, the Morning Show Host of the Station, Papa Willie also appealed to the government to launch a fund in various Districts across the country to support orphans, Widows, and Widowers who are suffering.

He appealed to Politicians not to wait till election time before they start supporting the needy and their Constituents.

Some of the beneficiaries also thanked the management of the radio station for the kind gesture, adding that the harsh economic situation has stopped people from supporting them this time around.
