A pregnant woman has died on the spot while 13 others are seriously injured after the car they were traveling on was involved in an accident at Gomoa Anteadze in the Gomoa West District on the Kasoa Cape Coast Highway in the Central Region.
Information gathered indicates that the driver of a Toyota Hiace commercial vehicle from Agona Swedru to Takoradi tried to overtake a vehicle but was unsuccessful as another car was approaching from the opposite direction.
Sensing danger, the driver then decided to drive on the shoulders of the road but unfortunately, he failed and drove into a ditch causing the minibus to summersault several times resulting in the instant death of a female Passenger.
Speaking to Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan, the Apam District Fire Commander, Assistant Chief Fire officer II Ankomah Nuamah said when his office received the distress call, his officers swiftly responded and rushed to the accident scene.
The officers succeeded in rescuing the trapped passengers who were rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, Apam St Lucks Catholic Hospital and Mankesim Hospital for medical attention.
The body of the deceased was conveyed to the morgue.
The incident happened on Thursday, December 29, 2022 around 5:30 pm.
