Dr. Kwabena Duffuor

Former Finance Minister and Flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Dr. Kwabena Duffuor is unhappy about the poor state of the Atta Mills Presidential Library located in Cape Coast in the Central Region.

According to him, every member of the NDC must worried that the library built to honour the memory of late President Atta Mills is uncompleted several years after it was started and is not put to use.

The library, which was commissioned in 2016 to serve research, educational, and tourism purposes, has been left to rot; a development that sparked concerns from residents.

Parts of the multi-million-cedi state-of-the-art facility which are falling off, with the air-conditioners and pillars being consumed by the sea breeze.

The library which has not been in use for a long time is now reportedly serving as place of abode for homeless people.

Dr. Kwabena Duffour who served as Finance Minister under President JEA Mills while on his campaign tour of the Central Region took time off his busy schedule to visit the Library after which he described the state of the facility as unfortunate.

The experienced Economist and former Governor of the Bank of Ghana in an interview with GHOne News Yaw Boagyan could not hide his disappointment over the poor management of the facility and its poor state, which he said does not honour the memory of the late President

Dr. Kwabena Duffuor was hopeful that the NDC will come to power and complete the project and put it to the use for which it was built.

“A library is supposed to be used but it is closed, why won’t I be concerned, I am worried. What’s the problem, why won’t they open the library for people to use? but its closed. This was done to honour our fallen hero. I’m worried, all party members should be concerned about what we are seeing here today. It is very unfortunate.

“I’m praying that we’ll come to power very soon and we’ll not only open but we’ll complete the whole thing to hon our Prof. Mills.”
