The Karpower barge from Turkey to boost Ghana’s electricity supply situation has arrived in neighboring Ivory Coast.
Kasapafmonline.com is reliably informed that the barge which is to add at least 225 megawatts to the current energy stock will from Ivory Coast be towed into Ghana by tugboats this week.
All things being equal, the power barge is expected to finally berth at the Tema port latest by November 27.
The emergency power plant from Turkey has delayed more than necessary after the April, September and October 2015 deadline were not met.
The first electron from the powership will help in ending the country’s erratic power supply (“Dumsor”) of three years and counting.
The agreement with Karpowership is expected to save the country between 100 to 120 million dollars annually, officials say.
