The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has ordered the Antoa royal family to initiate destoolment process of Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman, Chief of Antoa which hosts a popular Asante deity, the Antoa Nyamaa shrine in Kwabere West District of the Ashanti region.

Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman, 96, who has been on the stool for over 20 years, was yesterday pronounced guilty after he was accused of violating customary procedures through instating his nephew to take over from him as a Caretaker Chief while he lives.

Several attempts to correct the traditional error by the Antoa Royal Family though the Antohead of the royal family were ignored by the Chief.

The chief’s other offences include the multiple sale of lands to estate developers and total disregard of customs and gross disrespect to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Nana Kwame Agyemang destoolment ruling was announced on Monday 29th May 2023 by Otumfuo at the sitting of the Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) in Manhyia Palace.

Sources from Antoh Palace have confirmed the rights for the destoolment 96 years old man started yesterday and will continue today.

After the process, the destooled Chief is expected to come and thank the Overload of the Asante Kingdom Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in Manhyia Palace and show gratitude to the Asante King for the opportunity he gave him to serve him.
