Ghanaians once again witnessed a daylight robbery at Ablekuma Fanmilk, a suburb of Accra which led to the killing of a man in Uniform.

The incident that took place at a fuel filling station belonging to Star Oil Company has caused the public to decry on the continuous inability of the security to anticipate ahead of time, some of these flash points.

A cursory look at the Police officer who died in the process, revealed that he was without a bullet proof vest as well as a pistol but rather an AK 47 gun that does not respond rapidly to emergency situations like that. Public concern is more to do with the lack of bullet proof vest for the police officer.

Readers will remember a similar incident which happened in June of 2021 at Jamestown in which a Police Officer also died.

The death of the police officer has brought into sharp focus the vision of the Vice President who happens to be the Chairman of the Police Council. People are asking what practical steps the chair has been taking to deal with the frequent injury and death of officers in uniform.

The public is particularly agitated and asking the Vice President in which way his campaign of Digitization could stop a bullet from killing an officer? The public is asking the Vice President how well the police institution has been equipped to deal with pressing matters of security.

There is job to be done and this is not the time the Vice President should abandon the police to be going round talking about digitization while innocent souls in uniform die on situations that could be averted with provision of basic protective equipment.
