Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has assured the people of Assin North that roads under construction in the area will not cease after the upcoming by-election on June 27, 2023.

According to him, the Assin North town roads are not being constructed because the government wants to win votes in the crucial by-elections but rather to ensure the development of area.

Speaking at the Commissioning of the road from Assin Fosu to Assin Praso in the Assin North Constituency, Dr. Bawumia disclosed that the government will construct a foot bridge to ensure safety of residents on that stretch of the road.

“As part of measures to improve safety along the Assin Praso-Assin Foso road, government will construct a modern footbridge within Assin Foso Township to improve pedestrian safety. The footbridge shall also be disability friendly.”

He added that the construction of the Assin-Praso – Assin Foso road has been made possible through a grant by the People of Japan at a cost of 6.58 billion Yen, an equivalent of $58million.

“On behalf of the government and the people of Ghana, I say a big thank you to our friends from Japan for their continuous support towards infrastructure development and other services in Ghana” Vice President Bawumia said.

He urged the Ministry of Roads and Highways to put in place the necessary system for the maintenance of this road to preserve the investment made in it.
