The Member of Parliament for Tema West, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkora has urged the youth wing in the constituency to be hopeful in government.

“The party’s victory depends on its constituents in the 2024 General election”.

According to him, the youth wing has demonstrated resilience and readiness to rally behind the party in spite of the current economic downturn.

Mr. Ahenkora made this call while addressing the press at an inauguration of the youth wing at Tema West in Accra themed “Victory 2024, The Role of the Youth”.

“We have a big ambition before us to ‘break the 8’, which no party has done in our Fourth Republican history. We seek to do that, and to do so, the youth wing of the party must lead the charge. Because we cannot ‘break the 8’ without the majority of young people in this country rallying behind the party to ensure this is done,” he said.

“About 70% of Ghanaian population are youthful and no political party can win election without having majority of the young people believing and following the party. That is why it has become the most difficult task for us to do,” he added.

The legislator hinted that the youth wing of the party must spearhead the party’s quest to retain power in the next elections.

The Constituency Chairman for Tema West, Mr. Kwasi Opoku Bosompem said any government appointees, Chief Executive Officers, Municipal Chief Executives and Directors who cannot help the youth wing in the party should be kicked out.

He further added that the party should use recent Assin North by-election as test case and allow party structures to work.

“Assin North is a warning to us. We lost Assin North because party structures were not followed. Today, I’m here to assure the youth that I will do the job with them” He said.

According to him, posture of some Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives and government appointees have really affected the party’s chance of winning 2024 General election.

“I will engage all Government appointees in this constituency. 2024 election is not going to be easy. It’s time we sort boys out. We want to send this signal to them to be extra careful.”

On his part, Constituency Youth Organizer for Tema West, Mr. Prince Kofi Boamah said they will sacrifice their resources to help the youth at the grass root and win the 2024 General elections.
