H – History

From the journey to independence to the various fights for freedom. From the Ghana’s local and world-class leaders, to great moments in sports. All these support that Ghana is historically rich and  worthy of appreciation. Great kings and queens have blessed the surface of this great west African nation.

I – Islam

At least 20% of the population are Muslims who mainly reside in the northern region but travel nationwide for trade and education. The peaceful co-existence with the Christians and other religions in Ghana is admirable.

J – Justice

As the motto of the country says “Freedom and Justice”. The country prides itself on being one of the countries  that metes out justice where justice is due. With fully functional and trusted courts and renowned judges, the judicial system in Ghana is deemed as one of the very best in Africa.

K – Kumasi

Famously known as the garden city of Ghana, this amazing city houses some of the very rich ethnic groups in the land, “the Ashanti’s”. Kumasi is the capital city of the Ashanti region. Home of gold and many important minerals, great history and monuments, Kumasi is one city one cannot miss when in Ghana.

L – Longitude 0°: the earth’s centre

According to Matt Rosenberg, a geography expert, the Greenwich meridian passes through Ghana in the industrial city of Tema. “The point at which the equator (0° latitude) and the prime meridian (0° longitude) intersect has no real significance but it is in the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean, about 380 miles (611 kilometers) south of Ghana. Hence Ghana is usually said to be “the centre of the earth.

O – Otumfuor

This is the title given to an Ashanti King. The Ashanti Empire is practically the richest empire in Ghana and one of the most respected empires in African history. Otumfuor Opoku Ware, Otumfuor Agyeman Prempeh and Otumfuor Osei Tutu are Ashanti kings who have successfully taken charge of this great empire. Currently the Ashanti King is Otumfuor Osei Tutu II who is not only a traditional leader but a national icon as well.

P – Peace

Peace is generally perceived to be the absence of war. However the freedom to live without fear and the friendliness of the people in a country is also termed peace. Fortunately, Ghana can be said to be one of the most peaceful countries in the world. Wars are extinct, conflicts are meagre and the people are very friendly and caring. This is a place to live with so much freedom and no fear at all.

Q – Queens

Ghana is a country where gender equality is rated very highly. Women have so much freedom to express themselves and achieve as much as they can. Many queens have lived. The most remembered is Yaa Asantewaa, queen mother of Ejisu (an Ashanti City). She led the Ashantis to war and was victorious, many queens have also achieved great feats. This has contributed to the naming of the national women’s team “The Black Queens”.

Ghana is by far the land of great wealth, resources and potential. At this rate of development, the peace, zealousness and lifestyle of its people coupled with the rich heritage and natural resources available proves that the sky is too low a limit for this wonderful country.

M – Monuments

With several castles, forts, museums and historical monuments, Ghana is undoubtedly a country worthy of note when planning a trip to Africa. There are lots of historical sites and buildings to see and great stories that come with them. The James Fort, Usher Fort, Cape Coast and the Elmina castles amongst others.

N – Nature

Ghana is blessed with many natural bodies. With a variety of forests and mountains spread across the country. The Atlantic Ocean serves as a coast for many cities in Ghana. Lake Bosomtwi, River Densu, River Pra, The Mole national park, The Buabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary and Mount Afadjato are a few examples of the rich nature that Ghana is blessed with.
