A Sunyani-based Forestry Commission guard, with the Leopard unit of the Asukese Forest Reserve who went missing some three weeks ago has been found with his legs tied and handcuffed near the Nkawkaw Asona refuse dump.

He was spotted by a Zoomlion bin truck driver and his mate at early hours of Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

The victim, Vitus Yourdong 31, was captured by some alleged illegal chain saw operators in the Asukesse Forest Reserve in Sunyani during an operation, after he excused his colleagues to attend to nature’s call on 2nd of July 2023.

According to him, he was detained, assaulted several times and manhandled until he was dumped at Nkawkaw Asona refuse dump unconsciously in the early hours of Tuesday.

The victim was sent to the Nkawkaw Central Police Station where the District Forest Manager for Mpraeso, Nii Amoh visited to ascertain the situation.

He was subsequently released of the handcuff and the rope tying his legs and sent to the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital for medical attention.
