The 2016 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has commended investigations which have so far been conducted into the killing of the NPP Upper East Chairman, Adams Mahama.

He has urged the police to continue their work independently and never be influenced by political pressure of any sort.

In a tribute paid to the deceased at the final funeral rites (Adua) held at the Jubilee Park, Bolgatanga, Nana Addo said he was impressed with the level of investigations, and expect that the good work started by the police would not be truncated.

“We shall not be satisfied with anything less than the arrest and successful prosecution of the killers of Chairman Adams.”

The Minister for Interior has made a valid assurance that justice “will be done to Adams,” hence this should not be compromised in any form, Nana Addo adds.

However, he told those heavily affected by the loss of Adams to be self-restraint, throughout the ongoing investigations.

Adams was assassinated in an acid-bathed attack and died subsequently the next day at the Bolgatanga hospital.

In the aftermath of his demise, a confusion hit the Dankwa-Busia-Dombo tradition. Many in the region alleged that the party’s National chairman, Paul Afoko had a hand in his death.

Two people have so far been apprehended and charged.
