Ahead of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Super delegates conference to be held across the 16 regions, the Campaign Team of Flagbearer hopeful, Alan Kyerematen has once again accused President Akufo-Addo of meddling in the process.
Last month, the Campaign Team of the former Trade and Industry Minister raised similar accusations forcing President Akufo Addo to respond, intimating that no such thing is happening.
However, speaking to Starr News, the Deputy Spokesperson for Alan’s Campaign Team, Richard Nyamah said they have reason to believe the President is still trying to impose Dr. Bawumia on delegates.
“We are getting information that rightly or wrongly so that the Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong met with Eastern Regional super delegates and told them that the President has asked him to inform them to vote for Dr. Bawumia because he [President] is from the Eastern Region and Dr. Bawumia is his candidate and if they do not vote for him, they will be putting him the President to shame and that should not happen.”
The New Patriotic Party will organize a super delegates conference on Saturday, August 26, 2023, to vote for Five candidates out of the Ten presidential candidate aspirants who will subsequently contest in the party’s upcoming presidential primaries in November for the election of presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections.
The Flagbearer aspirants are former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, former Minister of Energy, Mr Boakye Agyarko; former NPP General Secretary and presidential spokesperson, Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong; former Member of Parliament (MP) for Mampong, Mr Francis Addai-Nimoh; former Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku.
The rest are Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia; former Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen; former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Mr Joe Ghartey; energy expert, Mr Kwadwo Opoku and Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
