Commissioner of Police, George Alex Mensah at the centre of a plot to get Dampare removed as IGP has accused former Northern Regional Chairman of NPP Bugri Naabu of tampering with the leaked audio tape to remove portions incriminating to him.
Appearing before the Parliamentary Special Committee probing the tape for the second time on Friday, COP Mensah failed to point from the transcript handed to him yesterday portions attributed to him that he did not utter.
The legal team of COP Mensah subsequently asked the Committee for some time to match the audio with the transcript that had been handed them.
The Committee consequently granted them an hour and thirty minutes to enable them to conduct that exercise.
Earlier, there were exchanges between chairman of the committee Samuel Atta Akyea and his vice James Agalga over request for an in-camera hearing.
While the Chairman argued strongly for issues related to the administration of the Ghana police to be heard behind closed doors, the vice wanted some questions answered in the open for the benefit of the public who might have heard the leaked audio.
